Pain Management

Trauma, such as a car accident, fall, or sports injury, or even long-term overuse can create varying levels of pain that must be properly managed to ensure a patient’s overall well-being. Pain in one’s neck, back, or spine can seriously impact a person’s quality of life. Patients may experience not only great discomfort, but psychological distress as well, as they find themselves unable to meet life’s daily demands as they once did.

Alongside treating any underlying conditions, pain can be managed, using several noninvasive and/or minimally invasive treatments. Pain management treatments may include physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic, physical therapy, including stretching and exercise, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), anti-neuropathic treatments, pain medication, facet joint injections, epidural injections, selective nerve root block, acupuncture, as well as biofeedback. Because every patient is different, an individual’s pain management treatment plan requires a personalized approach to understanding symptoms and complaints and tailoring those treatments to the patient’s unique needs.
