Hip Arthroscopy
Unlike traditional hip surgery, hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure designed to examine the interior of the hip, diagnose the underlying condition, and repair or remove any damaged tissue. This could involve loose fragments, or bodies, that have broken off the hip’s surface and now “catch” in the joint during movement, causing pain and more damage in the joint, or fixing torn or loose pieces of the labrum. Your surgeon accomplishes this by inserting a miniature camera and equally small instruments into tiny incisions in the affected area. This surgical option only follows when non-surgical treatments have provided insufficient relief to the patient.
